FIVE COMMON ESSENTIAL OILS USED IN AROMATHERAPY AND HOW TO USE THEM

Therapeutically, it helps people suffering from anxiety. It tends to act as a soothing balm to calm the patient of worries and stress. Its fragrance is also gold! The lovely scent that emanates from it can be used during yoga practice as savasana.

Lavender for its scent is best used in bath. It can be added to bath water in a dispersant and mixed before used for bath. This way, it aids absorption through the skin, as well as its inhalation.

PEPPERMINT

Peppermint is a widely used essential oils specifically because of its refreshing and cooling effects. It enhances mental alertness and also to soothe achy muscles. The presence of Menthol in it produces this icy hot property which makes it applicable in soothing pains like headache, migraine and also to relieve congestion and digestive problems.

In applying it, one can either rubbed on the body in mixture with water or used in it vaporizers, massage oils or in bath water.

BERGAMOT

Bergamot is another common essential oil that has many therapeutic uses. It is a citrus-scented essential oil extracted from the Citrus Beragamia tree which finds use mostly in perfumes and colognes.

It is widely used in treating stress, depression and anxiety. Further, the antiseptic properties contained within it makes it applicable to skin infections like eczema and psoriasis. Not only that, even the digestive system, spleen and liver could be stimulated with Bergamot.

In applying Bergamot, it is advised not to use in pure form as it can lead to skin burn when the body is exposed to sun. Thus, using it as an incense in a vaporizer works best, blended with massage oils or diluted with bath water.

ROSEMARY

This is a widely used essential oil for its mental stimulant effects and its antidepressant properties.  These prominent properties make it useful in enhancing the overall brain performance in terms of memory and focus. Thus, it can be very effective in soothing aching, headaches and cramping muscles.

Rosemary can be added to the humidifier; it can be blended with massage lotions and as well in shampoos to help stimulate the scalp and for hair growth. 

LEMON

Lemon are known for their fresh and clean scent. It can help eliminate bad vibes, enhance concentration and improve mental awareness. In fact, there contains many therapeutic effects as well as antibacterial and antiseptic properties in it. Due to its awesome fragrance/scent, it could serve as home refresher and great mood boaster.

As for its application method; Lemon can be added in drops to bathwater or simply in few drops to a vaporizer/diffuser.
